Unholy Angels begins with a bang of a prologue--a terrifying abduction that sets the mood for the rest of the story. It's clear something is very wrong with the abductor. He's calm, methodical, and downright chirpy--the reader's first clue that this isn't your typical romantic suspense story.I immediately liked the book's lead character, Liz Janssen. She's strong and feisty--but also heartbroken and at her wit's end. First she discovers the body of her husband (from whom she's been separated) and then she has to deal with her teenage son Will, who blames her for his parents' separation and his father's death. Will's bitterness, which turns into outright rage, leads him down a dangerous path.
The book is fast paced, and there's a delicious creepiness to the plot, balanced nicely by the budding romance between Liz and Doug McBride, the local sheriff. (I was rooting for these two.) As an avid mystery reader, I thought I could figure out how the book would end. I couldn't. It kept me guessing until the end. If you like suspense with your romance, you'll love this book.

This as a good read even if it is a little disturbing at times. Children involved in mental illness is a frightening subject matter, even though it reflects the truth.Satanic influences add to the suspense and the love angle add to the interest.
I was not sure when I bought this book if I would like it. I had never read anything about Satanism. It kept my attention and I read it in about 12 hours. I really enjoy Karen's books.
I bought this book based on the reviews at the time - perhaps that set my expectations a little high. It was okay but to be honest I found the "horror" angle missing for the most part. The storyline was adequate but a little predictable, I kept waiting for the big twist at the end mentioned in one review I had read.
For the price of the book, Unholy Angels is an adequate light read.
This book began with a solid foundation for a great story. The beginning read well, however, as it progressed it appeared that the writer was in a hurry to complete the book. I felt a bit cheated out of areas that would have provided more insight and excitment, as well as anticipation of the ending.
I think it is an okay read, and sincerely hope that the writer gets an opportunity to read reviews to be able to mature.
While this book does have the f word in it several times, I still give it 5 stars. Once I started reading it, I had a hard time putting it down.
I read the whole thing in one day. I had to see what would happen on the next page. I tried to figure out what was going to happen and who was the Leader, but I was wrong.
If you like romance and mystery, you are going to enjoy this book.

I don't understand all the warnings; I have read more disturbing Roald Dahl books. This was quite simply an adequate read for 99c. Unless you are a reader of Christian books you will be disappointed. For hard core readers or even moderate readers of horror (like me) you will be left wondering what all the warnings were about. This is no Stephen King and certainly nothing like Science of the Lambs, and whomever suggested such should be banned from ever critiquing anything more important than a dog fashion show.
As far as story line goes it's a cliché. Boy moves back to hometown, meets girl, both have issues. Girl gets kidnapped by the most blah bunch of Satanist I have ever had the misfortune to read about. Despite the promises from one of the protagonist, nothing happens to said kidnapped girl. Boy saves girl. Satanists get arrested. Everyone else has a drink on the veranda.
